Les Hirondelles is a converted farmstead nestling in a quiet valley of chestnut and pine forests on the edge of the pretty hamlet of Le Cros in the Ambazac hills of La Creuse.
This is a magnificent area of lakes and forests - perfect for walking, fishing, kayaking, pony trekking and all manner of outdoor pursuits. Although Les Hirondelles satisfies that 'get away from it all' feeling, it is within easy reach of all the major attractions of the Limousin.
Our two cottages are just minutes away from two lakes for fishing and swimming, and within 20 minutes of a further three lakes, pony trekking and equestrian centres. 30 minutes drive will take you to the centre of the beautiful old city of Limoges, world famous for its porcelain. The friendliness of the people here will make you feel instantly at home in what is truly the heart of the 'real' France.
The cottages share a large garden with 30ft. kidney shaped swimming pool, boules court, table tennis, badminton and childrens swings. There is also a barbecue area here if you wish to eat by the pool. The pool and garden area is well supplied with garden furniture and sun loungers so there is no need to reserve sunbeds or that favourite spot around the pool!
La Chouette cottage was the original grain store and has been converted into beautiful open plan holiday accommodation. This cottage sleeps 2 ADULTS and 2 CHILDREN. All living accommodation is on the first floor. With vaulted ceilings and the original oak floors, the cottage retains all of its original charm. La Chouette has its own private garden to the rear with chestnut and bamboo gazebo for private sunbathing and meals with a view over the surrounding countryside.
Le Colombier Cottage has a double bedroom, twin bedroom, and another beautiful twin bedroom in the converted grenier. The cottage has been tastefully updated yet retains all of its original charm with exposed beams and enormous limousin fireplace. The cottage sleeps 6 and is available between April and October.
We provide all of our guests with a welcome pack which includes bread, local cheese, fresh eggs, seasonal fruit and a decent bottle of wine to get you in the holiday mood.
Joyce and I are here throughout the year to give you a warm welcome and any assistance you need to get the most from your holiday in this magnificent region of France.
